360 ARCHITECTURE FIRM

360 Architecture worked with a small group of Higher M-Pact’s youth in its leadership program – engaging them in the process of designing buildings. This initial project led to the development of a concept for a Higher M-Pact facility.  Youth learned how to ask questions, thoroughly research alternatives and learn to express their ideas in a building solution. We exposed the youth to technologies and software used in programming, designing and documenting a project. As a result, the youth and the 360 team collectively created a solution that will promote Higher M-Pact and generate excitement about this new facility among the youth and the community. — Marvin Manlove, AIA, Owner and Founding Principle

BLUE RIDGE OPTIMIST CLUB

The Blue Ridge Optimist Club recognize two outstanding students involved in Higher M-Pact's programming each month.  Youth are selected for earning good grades and demonstrating positive citizenship and leadership skills in their school.  The Blue Ridge Optimist invite these youth to a monthly dinner where the youth are introduced and congratulated for their hard work with a framed certificate and special gift.

Creative Planning

Creative Planning, Inc. partners annually with Higher M-Pact to honor high-risk urban youth and communities by providing groceries during the Thanksgiving holiday season. The team from Creative Planning provides grocery bags full of fresh fruit, vegetables, can goods, bread, pies and turkeys. As the families walked away with overflowing grocery sacs, they were excited and very appreciative for the Thanksgiving blessing. Creative Planning received many thanks and hugs for bringing a little hope to those who need it the most.

JOHNSON COUNTY ROTARY CLUB

The Rotary Club of Johnson County has made Higher M-Pact one of it's chosen charities for years.  Each Valentine's Day, the members sale roses with proceeds benefiting Higher M-Pact and the high-risk urban youth we serve.  Throughout the year this club also hosts various events to promote or raise funds for our mission. Recently, the Rotary Club of Johnson County hosted an Oktoberfest themed night at Boulevard Brewery.  Admission and dollars raised from a fun silent auction were donated to our program.

Lenexa Baptist Church

The members of Lenexa Baptist Church have been steady friends to Higher M-Pact.  Each year, Lenexa Baptist Church donates Easter Baskets and assists us in handing the baskets out to youth living in Charlie Parker Square, Wayne Minor, West Bluffs and River View Garden housing communities.  To date, this program has provided over 10,000 Easter Baskets to youth living in Kansas City's urban core!  Members of this church also routinely host activities at our community center in Charlie Parker Square, promoting spiritual and personal growth.

Ryan Lawn & Tree Services

The apprenticeship program has been a great asset to RYAN Lawn & Tree Services. It has been wonderful not only for me, but for all of the associates of RYAN who have had the honor of working with the program. We feel fortunate to have worked alongside and taught some of the most professional young people in our community, and we would like nothing more than to see these bright young people learn valuable life skills and establish a strong foundation for their careers in life. We train the youth in the different areas of services that RYAN provides to its customers, including: customer service, teamwork and a strong work ethic. To ensure that youth experience the culture of the work environment, they attend
